MCC Opportunities for OBCC players

16 Feb 2019 by Andy Brown

The MCC Young Players Program allows talented cricketers worldwide to train and get an opportunity to hopefully join a County staff.
Many International players have developed through this program including Phillip DeFreitas (England) and Stephen Fleming (New Zealand).
At present Rahib Ali is training with the squads, before Christmas travelling down to Lord’s and now having sessions at Oxford.
Hopefully this will lead to a summer contract with the MCC but worse case is he gets opportunities to play against County 2nd XI teams for the MCC and gets to showcase his cricketing talents which we all know at OBCC deserve recognition.
As well as Rahib new acquistion Luke Baddeley has been invited down to undergo trials he travelled to Lord’s 2 weeks ago for an initial days trial and hopefully will be invited back this summer and next winter also to continue the process.
Derbyshires new bowling coach Steve Kirby was the Head Coach at the MCC Young Cricketers before he took on his new role here in Derby.
